Why I’m Great
Swollen feet and ankles, or edema, is a common pregnancy ailment especially in the third trimester. With all of the extra fluid circulating in the body, it tends to pool at the extremities causing swelling that can sometimes be painful even. Shrink My Feet massage oil is infused with the best anti-inflammatory essential oils to help reduce swelling, and the jojoba oil base is one of the most recommended massage oils by top massage therapists. When used with the special massage technique below, it can help to temporarily reduce swelling and provide relief (and who doesn’t love a foot massage?!).
The Best Pregnancy Massage Technique?
Many people will massage swollen extremities in a circular motion, similar to a normal massage. Trick is, when dealing with edema there’s a great three-step massage that will help encourage the swelling to go down:
1. Massage from the toes to the ankle. With two hands wrapped around your foot, begin at the toes and using Shrink My Feet: Massage Oil apply consistent pressure and go upwards to the ankle. Repeat until you feel some relief/shrinkage in the foot.
2. Massage from the ankle to the knee. Again with two hands wrapped around your leg, begin at the ankle and apply consistent pressure up to the knee. You may have to rotate where your hands have contact with your leg to get a complete massage. Repeat until you feel some relief/shrinkage in the lower leg.
3. Massage from the knee to the thigh. Here you can use an upwards stroking pattern (either by pulling the hands up from above, or pushing the hands up from below) from the knee to the thigh. Continue for at least 5-10 minutes. Completing all three steps will create a suction-like effect within your leg, pulling the fluid from the foot to the lower leg, and up through the thigh - allowing relief from swelling caused by pregnancy, or long periods of time standing/walking.
